Several years ago, Mark Crispin Miller cited an in-depth study concluding that the US hasn't had an honest Presidential Election since 1964.
Bush v Gore, Bush v Kerry, 81 Million Biden. In California, Prop 8 and the GMO Initiative. Locally, an incumbent reformer who made all the right enemies supposedly lost 70% - 23%. Yeah, right.
So I think we're long past getting to pick our overlords, as the Late John Judge observed about 2000. 2016 may be an exception to the rule. Time will tell.
