That's not to say that psychedelics are not a potentially greatly beneficial part of a sound therapy program, particularly for Veterans suffering PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and others who have experienced extreme trauma—PROVIDED THAT any psychedelic therapy is combined with sound one-on-one talk therapy.
Some of us are old enough to remember how psychedelics were used by a certain alphabet agency, directly and through intermediaries like Timothy Leary, to control and experiment upon people. At the same time, the use of psychedelics has a sound history going back thousands of years.
Psychedelics remind me of ‘Hormone Replacement Therapy” (HRT), which was promoted heavily by actress Suzanne Somers. Suzanne was able to parley her wealth and celebrity from “Three's Company” and author multiple books on health. She used her intellect (some erroneously confused Suzanne the person with the television character she played) and celebrity to gain access to some of the best alternative health practitioners.
Unfortunately, which I noticed with HRT, some people in the medical and alternative health fields who really didn't have much of a clue about what they were doing or HRT, were pushing and promoting it heavily as if they did. Sometimes with disastrous results.
So if you or someone you care for wants to try psychedelic-assisted therapy, keep the above in mind, and carefully screen any practitioner before signing up. Just because someone is good at self-promotion does not mean they should be consulted or trusted.
