Modern Robbing Barons
How about funding the people who work for a living, and those who are struggling to live, instead of handing out stolen money like Halloween candy to greedy urchins? Repeal the damn "tax" and let those in need meet their needs!
According to the US Census Bureau, 135,010 people live in Humboldt County California, as of July 2023. (And falling; many of those who can leave are doing so). Doing a little quick math, that's $592.59 for every man, woman and child. That would come in handy for food, or the escalating cost of living in light of paychecks typically far below what is needed to live a decent life here, paychecks not keeping up with the real rate of inflation. Or to live without government “assistance”. Or to have proper food and shelter.
“Keep 'em Down” should be Humboldt County's motto.
