Intro (Click for full Posting)
In 2006, I started a blog, four decades after I first determined I had a knack for writing. I had been thinking about creating a blog for a while, and like so much in life decided there would never be a perfect time, so just do it and see where it goes.
The blog has changed over the years. Initially a repository for essays, letters to editors, and quotes, it has evolved into a more comprehensive record.
As far as I can tell, although Blogspot is owned by NSAGoogle, nothing I have ever Posted there has been altered or deleted. I continue to make backups just in case, of course.
What will be covered here? Commentaries, world events, quotes, humor, health. Memes—a well-written/designed meme can in seconds cut through large amounts of hot air and deflections.
Why Substack, why now? I have long been frustrated with the lack of time available for researching and writing. Holding down a "day job", on top of personal obligations, resulted in little extra or spare time as life evolved.
John Lennon, in his classic song, "Beautiful Boy", wrote: "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, in one of her talks, observed that CV1984 might be a good thing in pushing people to do what they should already be doing, what they have been destined to do.
I am impressed by Jon Rappoport, Mark Crispin Miller, and Joseph Mercola, joining Substack. Jon, Mark and Joseph, I have followed for many years, none of whom are the type to become part of Substack without doing a lot of homework.
Circumstances recently changed where I now need to be at home most of the time. A regular "day job" is not feasible. But being home doesn't mean there is nonstop activity. Rather, it's being there at a moment's notice when the need arises. And I'd rather be researching, writing, pontificating, anyhow.
Call it what you will. Serendipity, everything coming together, a good swift kick in the pants.
What will this Substack account provide the reader? A central location for my writings and posts. The convenience of a separate email for each item. I will be sending out new material via Substack first. A central discussion forum in the comments, helpful since the deliberate trashing of Facebook has scattered readers and writers to islands of free speech and thought. Perhaps the Substack comments section can be a place for otherwise diverse and unconnected audiences to come together. To help keep things interesting and lively, I'll bring in comments from various social media pages where the item also appeared.
Exclusive material for paid subscribers. Well first and foremost, if you like my writing style, analysis, separating of important news from irrelevancies/distractions, and of course topic selections, your support allows more of that to happen. Writers often struggle with the money stuff, how much to make available "free" versus "exclusive". To me, the most important thing is to get information to others that are interested, not create some sort of exclusive "clique" with limited distribution. While being able to pay the bills.
Three of the most important words in the English language are, "I don't know". That doesn't mean one is ignorant, has no opinion or inclination. Rather, the evidence isn't clear-cut enough to confidently reach or declare a conclusion. For the paid subscribers there will be occasional tossing out of questions, outlines, and see what your feedback is/thoughts are. Topics, issues, where so much of the "evidence" really comes down to whether one believes the person(s) making the assertions. Material from "the archives". As with much of life, I'll be making it up as I go when it comes to what to do about "extras' or "bennies" (benefits).
A new stage of an adventure that has been growing and coming together for years. If you can help with a paid subscription, and I'm keeping that at five bucks a month—more would be nice of course, that option isn't being taken away, not at all. But a growing audience is much more important than nickel-and-diming people over an extra dollar or several a month to get a ticket. For those who can't swing even five a month, I get it, Consider Forwarding/Sharing/Posting the "public" items you like, that you think others in your orbit would also appreciate. The emphasis, the focus, will always be on writing, researching, and analyzing, with humor and historical background-perspective mixed in.
Thanks,
TLC
