Here the teachers are required to use an abomination called "Eureka Math". The materials are horribly written--they need a Grammar Cop with a Cat O Nine Tails to go to that company's headquarters and, um, take care of business.
Here's a sampling of the materials, which should give you a good idea of the horrors the students here face. As I frequently tell the students, "I can get you to the answer, but I can't (or won't) write a 20-paragraph essay on how I got to the answer".
