Dedicated Their Lives
On April 4, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy was on a plane heading toward Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was to give a speech in a primarily black community.
The call came in. Martin Luther King, Jr., had been shot and killed.
Bobby immediately began writing down notes. He didn’t have time to write out a speech, just notes.
The plane soon landed. Below is a video of what Bobby said. This was the first time that the people attending learned of Martin’s murder.
Indianapolis, Indiana, was the only large city in the United States that night that did not have rioting.
