Beach Lockup
One of the darker corners of the legal snakepit is Guardianships. While potentially and sometimes in reality beneficial, there is a long history of their being used to enrich others, both in and out of the legal system.
Sadly, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys is facing that fate. How he fares remains to be seen. Wilson's situation is yet another reminder of the importance of taking care of our health, and making sure that if we do find ourselves in a genuine position of being unable to care for ourselves, that we have measures in place so our directions are carried out.
Wilson certainly had, at times, the financial means to help ensure a better twilight of life. Whether he had the insight on how to make that happen is a whole different question.
Alcohol and drug use, especially prescription drug use, do significant damage to the body. We are all exposed to various other toxins as we go through life. I'll not attempt here to write a treatise on the subject. While there are some common patterns, each person's challenges are different. As one goes through life, and it's seldom too late, one should periodically detoxify, or cleanse their body, with particular attention to mercury and aluminum that cause much cognitive impairment. Test for nutritional and other deficiencies. Investigate health challenges, preferably intercepting them before they become a major issue, prioritize and reverse them.
From the article below, things don't look good for Wilson as he heads into the sunset. Wilson had a good life, gave us plenty of great music, and has left a lasting legacy. Perhaps a few bad years at the end isn't a bad trade-off. But what is happening with Wilson serves as another sign of the times, how everything we've worked for can be so easily taken away.
Wilson has been “diagnosed” with “Dementia”. But what is “Dementia”? It's a *symptom*. There's no singular or unique cause. No microscopic bug under the glass. Rarely—unless one has competent genuine healers caring for them—is any attempt whatsoever made to determine what the underlying causes of “Dementia” are, let alone reverse/eliminate them. From the Mayo Clinic, an accurate and hidden-in-plain-sight definition of “Dementia”:
“Dementia is a term used to describe a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social abilities. In people who have dementia, the symptoms interfere with their daily lives. Dementia isn't one specific disease. Several diseases can cause dementia.”
And what is the “answer”? Drugs. What is the question? Doesn't matter, the “answer”, in conventional medication world, is almost always drugs. Occasionally, some half-assed and ineffective recommendations will be made, so that the victim, er “patient”, will be softened up for the kill shot—drugs--when the “alternatives” don't work.
Often, a significant underlying cause of “Dementia” is, you guessed it, “side effects” of FDA-Approved drugs. Here's an introduction on that aspect, Drug-Induced Cognitive Impairment: Delirium And Dementia.
May Wilson's last encore be a peaceful one.

Beach Boys visionary Brian Wilson is suffering from dementia, and is unable to care for himself after the death of his wife and manager, his family said.
Longtime members of his team have applied to place him under a conservatorship for his own good – with the promise that the 81-year-old will remain free to do anything he wants to.
[If Wilson is free to do "anything" he wants, then there's no need for a CONservatorship. I wonder if the “anything” wording is to lull Wilson into a state of acquiescence, or to gaslight the public to think that's the way it goes should they find themselves cornered one day.]

More detail appeared in the filing for a court hearing, where a judge will decide if the conservatorship should be put in place. “The (proposed) conservatee does not have the capacity to informed consent to the administration of medications appropriate to the care and treatment of major neurocognitive disorders (including dementia),” the filing read.
It added that Wilson’s condition left him unable to “understand and appreciate the consequences of giving consent to the administration of medications,” and that the musician won’t attend any hearings “because of medical inability.”
[Drugs. Great. That's certainly part of what has caused Wilson problems for many years, and now they want to drug him even more. What could possibly go wrong?!!!]
